Issue:                    Child Protection, Long Term Care

Summary:                       This is a disposition hearing.  The father of three children was given custody of the children following child protection proceedings in New Brunswick (mother dismissed and returned to him).  He moved to Nova Scotia and the children were apprehended after he left two young children (under 5 years of age) alone in his home.  Following apprehension an investigation was made and it was revealed that the father used physical abuse as discipline and other forms of inappropriate parenting.  He advised the children their mothers were dead. A parental assessment and child assessment report recommended permanent care for the special needs child.  The mothers of the children were not fit persons for parenting.  The parties agreed that the daughter would go into permanent care with no access.

Result:                             The Court ordered permanent care of all children with no access.
