Summary:                   Second application by the Minister seeking permanent care and custody of child.  Mother sought termination of the proceeding and a return of the child to her care.   In the alternative, the mother sought an order placing the child in her care subject to the supervision of the Minister.  Child suffered injuries while living with mother.  Mother’s roommate charged with causing injuries. Minister had concerns about mother’s parenting ability.  Mother participating in family skills and other parenting programs.  Maximum time limit  in three and one half months.

 

Issue:                          What is the disposition that is in the best interests of the child?

 

Result:                        Court not satisfied that the circumstances justifying the order are unlikely to change within a reasonably foreseeable time not exceeding the maximum time limits.  Child placed in temporary care and custody of the Minister with a transition into the care of mother under the supervision of  the Minister.
